Bay laurel

A timeless evergreen native to the Mediterranean, Laurus nobilis is valued for its dense, aromatic foliage and naturally elegant form. Its deep green, leathery leaves bring structure and year-round greenery to outdoor spaces, while its tolerance for pruning makes it equally suited to sculptural forms, clipped hedges or a more natural silhouette. Both ornamental and practical, bay laurel is a classic choice for Mediterranean terraces and gardens.

Light: Full sun to partial shade; prefers bright conditions
Location: Outdoors, in a sunny, sheltered spot; adapts well to pots and terraces
Watering: Water regularly during the growing season, allowing the top layer of soil to dry between waterings. Avoid waterlogging
Soil: Well-draining, moderately fertile soil
Growth: Naturally slow-growing and easy to shape through pruning
Cold sensitivity: Tolerates moderate frost once established; protect container-grown plants from prolonged freezing temperatures and cold winds

Please note: Laurus nobilis can be maintained as a compact, clipped specimen or left to develop a more natural shape. Leaf density and growth rate vary depending on light, pruning and growing conditions.
