height: 50-70 cm
pot diameter: 20-25 cm
A velvety climber with dramatic, heart-shaped foliage that becomes larger and more textured as it matures. Native to tropical rainforests, Philodendron gigas thrives in warm, humid environments with bright, filtered light.
Light
Place in bright, indirect light. Gentle morning sun is acceptable, but avoid prolonged direct afternoon sunlight, which may scorch the leaves. Lower light conditions will slow growth and reduce leaf size.
Water
Allow the top 2–5 cm of the substrate to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly, ensuring excess moisture drains freely. Reduce watering frequency during cooler months when growth naturally slows.
Soil
Use a loose, airy, well-draining aroid mix rich in organic matter. A blend containing bark, coco coir or peat, perlite, and charcoal works well.
Support
As a natural climber, Philodendron gigas benefits from a moss pole or climbing support. Vertical growth encourages larger, more mature leaves.
