height: 120-150 cm / pot diameter: 40cm
A resilient evergreen shrub native to the Mediterranean, Pistacia lentiscus is recognised for its dense, leathery foliage and naturally branching form. Its small, glossy leaves create a rich green texture throughout the year, bringing a relaxed Mediterranean character to terraces, patios and sun-drenched gardens. Slow-growing and exceptionally drought-tolerant once established, it is well adapted to warm, dry conditions.
Light: Full sun; thrives in bright, open positions
Location: Outdoors, in a warm and sunny spot with good air circulation
Watering: Water regularly while establishing, then reduce frequency. Allow the soil to dry between waterings
Soil: Well-draining soil; tolerates sandy, rocky and relatively poor soils
Flowering: Produces small, inconspicuous flowers in spring, followed by red fruits that darken to black as they mature
Cold sensitivity: Tolerates heat and dry conditions exceptionally well; protect young plants and potted specimens from prolonged frost
Please note: Pistacia lentiscus is naturally slow-growing and may develop an irregular, sculptural shape over time. Fruit production depends on the plant's sex, as male and female flowers occur on separate plants.
