Long-leaved westringia
A hardy evergreen shrub native to Australia, Westringia longifolia is valued for its fine, elongated foliage, compact growth and naturally rounded form. Its slender green leaves create a soft, textured silhouette, while small white to pale lilac flowers appear throughout the warmer months. Drought-tolerant and easy to maintain, it is well suited to Mediterranean-inspired gardens, sunny terraces and structured outdoor spaces.
Light: Full sun to partial shade; best growth and flowering in sunny positions
Location: Outdoors, in a warm, sunny and well-ventilated spot
Watering: Water regularly while establishing, then moderately. Allow the soil to dry between waterings
Soil: Well-draining soil; tolerates sandy and relatively poor soils
Flowering: Small, delicate white to pale lilac flowers appear intermittently throughout the year, with more abundant flowering in favourable conditions
Cold sensitivity: Tolerates light frost once established, but protect young plants and container-grown specimens from prolonged freezing temperatures
Please note: Westringia longifolia responds well to light pruning, which helps maintain a dense, compact shape. Growth habit and flowering intensity may vary depending on the season, sunlight and growing conditions.
